Wild Waters is a Wild Ride

My 11 yr old son has been interested in Rob Kidd's POTC and Young Jack Sparrow Series for 2 years now. It took us several years to find books for him to read that kept his interest. This series and the Young Jack Sparrow Series have done that. In his words Wild Waters was packed full of fun and excitement and he cant wait for the next one to come out. His level of reading is age appropriate and this series is getting a tad "easy" for him but the story and plot lines encourage his imagination. He and his friends are all reading them now (thank heavens we have the whole series which we've loaned out to 3 of his friends) and then they acted out the various scenes and made up new ones all summer long. He reads for 20-30 min at night before bed and some nights trying to get him to put it up to sleep is a chore. They are a great series of books as Ive said, even dad and I enjoy reading them so that we can ask him questions and be able to identify with something he enjoys.

it took me years to find this book. One day I randomly search for it and they were selling them for a reasonable price (some people wanted to sell it for $40). I'm a big fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean and I this is great for my collection. The shipping was great, it got in time and it was exactly what i wanted. I don't mind buying it used, i like this eco-friendly book recycle concept. Thank you so much

Excellent Book on Exadata!

This is a very comprehensive look at Exadata with many helpful commands, queries, graphs, and images. It starts out easy and becomes more advanced as you progress through the chapters. Most chapters stand by themselves - so you can learn different subjects at any pace, or even just leverage a query or two.

- The first chapter assumes you don't know anything about Exadata and explains all of the components that make of different Exadata machines (including graphs comparing different machines).
- The next two chapters discuss RAC on Exadata (includes many helpful RAC commands) and Exadata Storage Cells in depth including various CellCLI commands.
- There is a chapter on the smart scan & using the flash cache with many helpful queries, comparison graphs, as well as initialization parameters.
- There is a very detailed look at HCC (Hybrid Columnar Compression) with exactly how it is stored and how it works. It includes comparisons for various compression levels showing consistent gets vs. db block gets.
- There is a chapter on 12c and Exadata (I wish this one was a bit longer) that includes some of the new features including pluggable databases.
- There are chapters on Networking, Backup & Recovery, and Managing Exadata with OEM 12c (Cloud Control).

Worth the effort

Guardini is considered an important theological influence on Pope Benedict and his ideas shaped the Vatican II discussion. I am not a fan of the liberalizing drift of V2 but this book is a wonderful reflection on the meaning of our liturgy and gave me much to consider. If you were catechized in the post V2 era like me, then this is worth the effort.

Saves hours of frustration

I am so pleased that I finally bought this book- I should have purchased it at the beginning of the school year! I am now able to quickly check my child's answers and see that she is working the problems out as intended. Before I had the book, it would take me an hour to check homework by working each problem out myself (and still she would miss some). I strongly recommend this book if your child is struggling to understand the problems, or needs help converting the story text to mathematical equations.

A friend of mine suggested that I purchase the teacher's manual rather than stressing myself out trying to check my daughter's homework. His advice was the best thing ever. We are now able to check homework stress free and my daughter also has improved her grades because when she gets a problem wrong she is able to see how to correctly solve the problem. This manual is very easy to use and contains very clear explanations of the solutions to the problems.

Very lucid and practical ebook!

I bought this because I wanted to backtest timing strategies with Excel and I am not disappointed! This ebook is very well written and full of great practical tips for the first-time backtester. The models are simple (no multi-asset models, simply models for timing individual assets like ETFs based on moving averages of all sorts), but the text is very lucid and well organized. The author shows that he is really experienced with backtesting and trading, so this is not just theory.

I really enjoyed this book and read it out in one flow. The only remark I have is that if you are just want to read this book for its practical tips (like me) without doing the test yourselves with Excel simultaneously, you might be distracted by all the references to Excel. The accompanying Excel sheet itself looks like a great tool, however, so I recommend playing with it.

Finally, given its low price and valuable contents, this is a great buy!

A real great job

Very very good backtesting method for as far i can tell now. Amazing job for only 10 bucks. It feels like charity :)

I wonder why i used Metastock before which was totally crap and expensive for backtesting. This does it all. Though you still should do some programming in excel with your own formula's but the hardest part is done. Thanks a lot for this treat.

Worth Every Cent - Excellent Backtesting System

The book and the accompanying spreadsheets definitely over-deliver. Whilst the backtesting system is easily useable by a complete beginner, it caters for more advanced users as well.

I liked the fact that you can add your own technical indicators as well. It was really easy to add columns with the Average True Range, Donchian Channels, etc.

Patrick also has a Youtube channel with videos further explaining the use of his backtesting system.

I like the fact that it runs on Excel rather than proprietary software. It was easy to adapt the macros to my backtesting system.

The only caveat is that it won't run on Excel for Mac (the VBA macro language doesn't have complete functionality). I got it running by using Excel for Windows running within Crossover.

The Naked Clone is a thoughtful, illuminating and provocative book on a subject that implicates an extraordinary array of ethical, legal and constitutional issues. Whether or not one agrees with the author that reproductive cloning is linked to a broad network of vital personal autonomy rights, the reader is bound to come away with a much more informed and reasoned view of a highly emotional and much-misunderstood subject.

An exciting, fascinating book from a brilliant mind.

The subject matter is human freedom, and this book is one which raises fundamental issues about the freedoms of man in relation to cloning. If freedom and cloning are subjects of concern, a more appropriate read cannot be found. The book is fascinating, bold and powerful, one of the most important books about the cloning controversy. You may agree or disagree with the author on his conclusions but you'll never be bored for a minute.
We have freedoms now that scarcely existed five hundred years ago or even one hundred years ago. A century from now new freedoms or aspects of freedoms will exist. These new freedoms, like the old ones, will have to be won through the efforts of people like John C. Kunich.
