Legendary knights such as Sir Gawain and the knights of the Round Table are briefly described, as is St. George and the dragon, and Gibbons also discusses present-day knights. The watercolor-and-ink pictures are some of Gibbons' liveliest and most attractive: there's plenty of fighting, decorative clothing and heraldry, and clear labels pointing out the parts of a castle and the names of the armor pieces. Knights in Shining Armor

As an heraldic artist for over 40 years and with grandchildren becoming interested in ALL things, I found this book very helpful in passing on my interests. It has helped them to become intrigued with the Knights of the Roundtable and their play now includes slaying dragons and rescuing fair maidens.They also have started asking about the various insignia in all my books on heraldry.
The illustrations brought to life the costumes and customs of the era. The story was written simply so that any young child could readily understand what the author was saying.
Thanks to Gail Gibbons for such an interesting way for children to learn.

Historical info for kids

This is a history book that describes the lives of knights in the Middle Ages. The book describes how boys could become knights, what the rules of the code of honor for knights were, and what battles between knights were like. The book introduces a lot of factual material and vocabulary, but there is no plot or story line. At the end of the book, there is a short section describing some famous knights and their dragons. Personally, I found the book a bit dry, but kids who are fascinated with swords and armor may show some interest in it. The book has about 900 words.

I bought this for my 6-year-old grandson, who loves to play with knights and dragons. Great pictures and lots of information presented without a lot of words. I learned a lot, too! Gail Gibbons' books are terrific!

Terance D. Miethe is Professor of Criminal Justice at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Jane Florence Gauthier is Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her current research interests focus on gender differences in criminal offending and issues surrounding community structure and crime.

Excellent for both undergrad and graduate statistics courses

This may sound a bit hipster-ish but my first copy of this book was back when it was still spiral bound and available only at the UNLV bookstore, it was a great resource then and cost about the same. By the time I entered grad school in 08 this book was in it's current form and was used in my grad stats class taught by Miethe. Now, four years later I am using this book as an instructor in both undergraduate and graduate courses at Arizona State University.

Everything about this book is fantastic, the only thing I would like to see is an e-book edition to keep up with the growing trend.

A book for newcomers

The intention of this book is to provide a hands-on approach to learning COMSOL 5.x. Each chapter focuses on a basic physical model and walks the reader through setting it up in COMSOL. Almost no insight is provided in terms of the physics or numerical method. Considering the text formatting capabilities of many book publishers, they could have done a much better job with this book. For this reason its not very useful to use as a reference. Also there is no need for this book to be hard-covered, paperback would have been sufficient. Although the title suggest MATLAB aspects with regards to COMSOL 5.x are covered, the topic is only addressed in a brief appendix. If you have never used any multiphysics modeling software and your willing to spend the money this book might be helpful for you.

Interesting and Easy Read

The book arrived quickly and in brand new, perfect condition. So far, I have read the first two chapters of this book for a class I am taking. The book is interesting, easy to follow, and full of helpful information. The real case studies included at the end of each chapter are great to read, though the author leaves the ending open for the student to propose solutions. The book's appendix has several helpful resources such as steps to analyze case studies/business problems and sample business letters, memos, and other written communications.
